CODES OF BEHAVIOUR
SPECTATORS and PARENTS

Most players (in particular children) participate in soccer activities for fun.
They are not participating for entertainment of spectators only. The following
Code of Behaviour applies to all Parents and Spectators in attendance at the
Thornton Park Junior Soccer Club games.

It is a condition of entry to the T.P.J.S.C ground and games that you agree to
abide by the following Code of Behaviour.

*        Applaud good performance and efforts by all players. When watching
a game congratulate both teams upon their performance regardless of the
game’s outcome.

*        Never ridicule or scold a player for making a mistake during a competition.
Positive comments are motivational.

*        Show respect for your team’s coach, the referee and opponents.
Without them there would be no game.

*        Encourage players to play according to the rules and the official decisions, and the develop your knowledge of the rules.

*        Demonstrate appropriate social behavior by not using foul language, and
not harassing administrators, coaches, players or referees.
Condemn the use of violence at all times.

*        Teach your child that an honest effort is as important as victory, so that the result of each game is accepted without undue disappointment.

*        If you disagree with a referee or coach raise the issue through the appropriate channels rather than question their judgement and honesty in public.

*        Support all efforts to remove verbal and physical abuse.

*        Recognise and respect the value and importance of administrators, coaches, referee and sports trainers. They give up their time and resources to provide recreational activities for players and deserve your support.

*        Be a model of good sports behavior for children to copy.

*        Respect the rights, dignity and worth of every person regardless of their age, gender, ability, cultural background or religion.

Designated officials are authorized to require you to leave Thornton Park Junior Soccer grounds
if you breach the CODE OF BEHAVIOUR through for example:

*        Verbal or physical abuse of another person.

*        Harassment of individuals or a group.

*        Questioning of a referees decision.

*        Ridicule, baiting or uttering obscenities and/or

*        Engaging in behavior that is not respectful of others.
